Sofia Van Cleve

Sofia is deeply dedicated to making the world a better place for both people and the planet. Her empathy and “developer” mindset means she listens well, then puts good ideas into action. She brings communications and research skills from her past roles in nonprofits to her Senior Analyst position at Blue Garnet. She is a also true people-person—passionate about seeing people and communities grow to their fullest potential.

Before Blue Garnet, Sofia graduated early from UCLA, finishing Summa Cum Laude in December 2017 with a B.A. in International Development Studies and a focus on Global Health. Her numerous volunteer and internship roles across Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and rural Ecuador allowed her to dive deep with several nonprofits in community development.

Sofia loves learning about different cultures through travel and conversation, stemming from her 14 years of living abroad in mixed-nationality communities. Outside the office, she spends every free moment she can outdoors, enjoying hiking, camping, and rock climbing. She is also obsessed with sustainably grown coffee!

What’s your “why”?

I believe things are not the way they’re meant to be. And we get to be part of bringing renewal and restoration on this earth—to people, communities, and the planet. I am inspired to work in social impact because I want to use my time, talent, and treasure to help bring about that renewal.
